Greater Phoenix Leadership Mourns the passing of first President & CEO GPL’s first President & CEO, General R. Thomas Browning

It is with great sorrow that Greater Phoenix Leadership (GPL) announces the passing of our first president and CEO, General R. Thomas Browning.  Gen. Browning began his service to GPL in 1993 and led the organization until 2007.

“Tom Browning was a man of tremendous honor and a great leader,” said Neil Giuliano, president and CEO of GPL.  “Tom set the bar high.  We are very thankful for his vision and his service.”

Prior to serving GPL, Gen. Browning served our country with distinction.  Gen. Browning retired from the United States Air Force as a Brigadier General after serving more than six years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam.  Gen. Browning spent the final two years of his military career as commander of the 58th Fighter Wing at Luke Air Force Base.  Gen. Browning’s many awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross and the Purple Heart.  In addition, he is one of only a few Americans to be decorated with the Order of the Rising Sun by the Emperor of Japan.

The GPL Board of Directors and members extend their deepest condolences to the Browning family.
