GPL Announces Election of New Vice-Chair and Secretary

Greater Phoenix Leadership (GPL) is pleased to announce the election of Michael Bidwill as Vice-Chair and Mi-Ai Parrish as Secretary of the Board of Directors.   

“Michael and Mi-Ai provide unique talents and perspectives to our board and we are grateful for their willingness to serve,” said Neil Giuliano, President and CEO.  “They are outstanding leaders in their fields and we look forward to their thoughtful guidance and strategic vision as partners in strengthening GPL and our role in helping shape and improve the future of Arizona.”

Michael J. Bidwill serves as president of the Arizona Cardinals since 2007.  In 2016 the National Football Foundation inducted him into the Football Hall of Fame.  Bidwill was instrumental in the creation of University of Phoenix stadium, which opened in 2006.

Bidwill joined the Arizona Cardinals in 1996 as vice president/general counsel.  He has served as a federal prosecutor in Phoenix.  Bidwill holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from St. Louis University and a J.D. from Catholic University.  He has served as chairman of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) and serves on the board of directors of the Arizona Commerce Authority and the Pat Tillman Foundation.

Mi-Ai Parrish is president and publisher of the Arizona Republic.  Parrish served as deputy managing editor in the AZ Republic newsroom from 1999-2001.  Parrish was president and publisher of the Kansas City Star Media Co. and worked at the Idaho Statesman, Minneapolis Star Tribune, San Francisco Chronicle, Chicago Sun-Times and the Virginian-Pilot. 

Parrish is a member of the Asian American Journalists Association and was named one of the 100 Most Important Minority Journalists of the Last Century.  Parrish graduated from the University of Maryland, Merrill College of Journalism and was inducted into the University of Maryland Alumni Hall of Fame.  Parrish serves as vice chairman of the Banner Foundation and is a board member of GPEC, Sandra Day O’Connor Institute, Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications, Poynter Institute National Advisory Board, Arizona Food Marketing Association and the Arizona Women’s Foundation.
