Transportation

The GPL Transportation Task Force, under the leadership of Task Force Chairman Doug Pruitt, Chairman and CEO of Sundt Construction, Inc., led a successful effort to secure legislation, and spearheaded efforts to gain voter approval of Proposition 400, the extension of the half-cent sales tax in Maricopa County to fund the region's transportation needs over the next 20 years.

Proposition 400:
Maricopa County Transit Tax Extension

Summary:
If approved by the voters of Maricopa County, Proposition 400 would continue the one-half cent sales tax for 20 years, through December 31, 2025. This sales tax would be used for construction of new freeways, widening of existing freeways and highways, improvements to the arterial street system, regional bus services and other special transportation services, and high capacity transit services such as light rail, bus rapid transit and express buses. All projects to be funded from the proposed sales tax are specified in the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) Regional Transportation Plan.
